In Chrome, when you download a file, you can see it's progress at the bottom of the webpage. With Firefox, you have to click a button to go to another window to see how things are going. Is there a way to see it on the website page where you're downloading?

If you see the picture, it shows the filename and if the file is big, it shows percentage done as it's downloading. Does Firefox have anything like this? When I download, I have to go to a new window to see what's happening.

Someone over at Reddit's /r/firefox community posted exactly this and is currently working on improving it feature, UI and UX wise.

Another workaround is to create a bookmark for the internal page about:downloads and click that in the current page to view the progress.

Mostly solved, Thanks! I hope you keep working on it so it can do the little extras as in the other comments. Very good job!
