i have an old system backup hard disk, how do i migrate firefox saved passwords from the old firefox to my new boot disk firefox?

i have installed Firefox on my new iMac. Of course there are no saved passwords (yet). How do i move the passwords from the old Firefox on one hard disk to the Firefox on the new disk. Both Disks are bootable.

There are two things you can do.

1) Copy the user profile folder from your backup and overwrite the current new user profile. This will copy everything including history, bookmarks, passwords . . . .

2) key3.db and logins.json : These are the Password files. Copy Both !

sorry it has taken me so long to reply but where do i find these files and where do they go? It has been a very long time since i did this kind of modification to firefox.

Hi, I should have mentioned that I'm now on OSX Sierra. The above password manager 'import' solution looks like it only works on Windows. The logins.json files and the key3.db files don't seem to be on the new boot disk even though they are on my old boot up disk from a prior OSX. Help!
