Mozilla ads began to appear at bottom of window

I have Firefox Quantum 57.0.2. Just today when I open a new tab a bar began appearing at the bottom of the window with Mozilla ads. For example Mozilla's Podcast, IRL or Mozilla donation drive for free, healthy and open internet. I have to X it out if I want it to disappear. Image of one ad is attached.

How do I stop these from appearing? Ad blocker doesn't work.

I think you are referring to snippets, which can be disabled by clicking on the gear in the top right of the new tab and unchecking "snippets"
