can I use the file:// URI to open a file in windows explorer.
I have a link in an email that starts with file:// and points to a file on my file server. With IE as the default browser this link is handed off to Windows explorer and the file opens. Nothing happens when FireFox is the default browser. Its there a syntax I can use to accomplish this?

It should be file:/// You can use this to figure something out I would guess : C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer Work your way back with the above going to a higher level it should also change to file:/// at least on Win10. Best I can figure out.
