Is it possible to create a field for birthdays and to make that field searchable?

I know that Lightning has a place to write in birthdates, but as far as I can tell, that information is not searchable. It was, at one time used by ThunderBirthDay, to show the birthdate in Lightning (Calendar) but that function nor the ThunderBirthDay no longer work. There are several boxes that appear on the first page of the Address Book, and several boxes within the address book that have no use to me. I would prefer to be able to change those but I can find no way to do it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Rex Perry 4/24/18

When using the CardBook extension I can search by using "YYYYMMDD" and if any birthdates match they will be shown as I type. Typing YYYYMM will bring back any birthdays for that month.

Fabian, Thank you for the response. I would like to try the CardBook addon. However... when I attempt to download the file I get the following message-- "Adobie Acrobat Reader could not open cardbook-28.4-tb.xpi because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged..." This happens regardless of where I try to download the file from. FYI, I am using Thunderbird 52.7.0 (32 bit). If you or anyone else can help get past this, let me know. Rex

That is because you do not open the file, you install it.

Download the file someplace you can find it. Go to the add on tab in Thunderbird and click Extensions. Click the gear icon and select Install from File.
