Folder is empty, nothing in Recycle Bin or anywhere on the hard drive (searched). Download history is intact but all files are "File moved or missing".

Hi, could you please tell us what you are looking for ..... If wanting your Profile it could be on the Desktop in a Folder called Old Firefox Profile or it could be here :

So could you please expand on the issue and what would the outcome look like please.

What is the file path of this folder?

Firefox wouldn't normally remove downloads unless they are in the Windows temp folder or you use an extension to mange the downloads that has a feature to cleanup.

Otherwise this is likely done by other cleanup software on your computer.

This happened on Win 7 x64, downloads are stored on hard drive in user folder "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Downloads", not a temporary folder.

There are no download management extensions in Firefox or cleanup software of any kind in Windows.

All downloaded files including one day old downloads are gone.

I did not change any Firefox settings after installing the update. I did not run Windows "Disk Cleanup". I noticed that downloads are gone when I downloaded a new file and it was the only file in downloads folder where yesterday there were several dozens.

See above for an additional information. This is not a new installation, this happened after an automatic update performed by Firefox.

I want to restore the deleted files.

Maybe to late already with files getting overwritten : https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva

You may want to try this after : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.3 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Recuva did not find files I know were in the Downloads folder.

I don't understand how running Windows Disk Cleanup or reinstalling Firefox will bring my files back.

I'm uninstalling Firefox, unfortunately it's gone FUBAR. It's been good using Netscape/Mozilla for over 20 years, not anymore.

Hi, please do not quote everything. It will move 2 pages really quickly.

I did not say using Windows Disk Cleanup or Reinstalling Firefox would bring back your files. The above was to do when you finished looking for your files to repair anything in Firefox that maybe contributed to your missing files.
