At work I had a big internal battle to convince everyone to start using Thunderbird instead of Outlook with our Mdeamon server. Once they accepted the idea all was working fine, even better than Outlook. Fast, no bugs, etc..

In all of a sudden, on a lot of emails, whenever they press forward, the opened window does not display the content. It is just an empty email. The only way to display the content is to choose view as plain text which in some cases it just destroys the email and make it impossible to forward it to serve it's purpose.

If I forward the message using Outlook or the Mdaemon webmail client all works fine. Also to note that if I forward the message to myself with the above clients then all will work fine. i.e. The forwarded messages with Outlook or Mdameon webclient will then display correctly if I press forward in Thunderbird.

This is happening on all installed instances and not only on a particular PC. Obviously everyone is angry asking why we did not stick with Outlook.

I am using Thunderbird Client 60.0b7 But the bug manifested itself even on a 58 version.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks and Regards Neville

You are using a version that is a beta version, so bugs may exist. People who use these beta versions are important as they help to discover bugs. Perhaps it is not necessarilly the best option for an office environment.

I would suggest you use the current version.

The program is not installed in the same place as the profiles. This means uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling another version will not effect Profiles. If using 'Windows' OS, a simple uninstall via 'Control Panel ' > 'Programs and Features', select 'Mozilla Thunderbird' and click on uninstall.

Download current version from link below and run the installation.

The current version is 52.8.0 Which is downloadable from this official website link, where you can choose the verion appropriate for OS and language preference.

  • Select original email so you can see it in Message Pane.
  • click on 'More' and select View Source'

A new window opens so you can see the contents of the email.

  • Look for all sections that show the Content Type info.
  • Please post the info into this forum question.

Below are some examples. There will be more than one, so please check all the document and note whether info is in plain text or html section.

MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: This may say multipart/mixed or multipart/alternative or multipart/related

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable or perhaps 'base 64'

Content-Type: eg: image/jpeg Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename= name.jpg

Q: What OS do you/all of you use? Q: How many PC's does this effect?
