Firefox is not running but the system and Firefox install & uninstall think it is. Why?
Okay; this is the second time I'm entering this info.
Firefox (62.???) was running fine until Win 10 updated and rebooted. I clicked Firefox on taskbar, desktop, and program list but it never came up and never indicated on task bar that it was running. Decided to uninstall and download again, but couldn't because system thinks it's running. Tried just downloading Firefox anyway, but couldn't install because installer thinks it's running. Tried deleting all files and folders named "Firefox"; couldn't delete one because system thinks it's running. If it's running, it's not showing any user interface and task bar didn't think it was running. Tried the answers for other similar problems, but always bang my head against the wall of everything but me thinks Firefox is running. Help!

Hi, please use Windows Task Manager to end the task that is running.
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Thanks. OK, just did that (although I don't know what a "full version installer" is), it installed, I clicked "finish" with the box for "launch firefox" checked, and now it's the same problem: the Task Manager says it's running but I don't see anything and it's not highlighted on my task bar to indicate it's running.
Am I doing something wrong?
And it's using 28% of my CPU with no user interface to me.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

I tried doing that but Task Manager doesn't list FF as an app that's running. No mention of FF at all!
I tried opening Task Manager to close FF, but according to the TM FF is not running.
