conversation showing different thread
Hello, Most of the times when I "open message in conversation", the thread shown is a totally different one than what I clicked the first time. However, sometimes when I open the thread from the "Sent" folder, it works just fine; it shows the right thread. Although, in both cases, the thread does not show all the correspondents, as if it only shows all the message from me, but not the one from the others.
I started to notice this errors after I permanently deleted a lot of emails; I have 4-year worth of emails from 2015-2018, but since it took a lot of memory, I decided to delete the first 3 years, leaving only the ones in 2018.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Your problem sounds like some sort of mail folder corruption. Therefore first of all create a full backup of your Thunderbird profile. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile
Then try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder
Thanks, christ1
I have tried repair the inbox folder, but that didn't seem to solve. But I'll try repair all folders.
Another thing you can try: move all messages belonging to a particular conversation to another folder. Do you still see the problem for those moved messages?
I tried moving one message from Inbox that has this problem to another folder, and when I open it in conversation, the correct thread shows up, so that must be the way to solve it. Thanks!
However, when I move it back to Inbox folder and open conversation from there, it shows incorrect thread again.
Do you think there is another way so that I can still work on it from Inbox?
As said before, there is some sort of corruption of your Inbox folder. Once all the problematic messages have been moved out of Inbox create another profile backup. Then once again rebuild the index file for Inbox. Finally compact the Inbox folder. Right-click Inbox - Compact Folder
This should clear any problems with Inbox, and you can try to move messages back to Inbox.
Having said that, it is best practice not to accumulate messages in Inbox. Keep your Inbox as tidy as possible to avoid corruption in the future.
Anti-virus software also is a common source for mail folder corruption. Therefore create an exception in your anti-virus s/w for the entire Thunderbird profile folder.

I tried this, but unfortunately the problem remains. However, I forgot to add one thing in my original post; new emails work with thread just fine.
So I think I will leave this as it is, and keep in mind to tidy up the inbox regularly.
Thanks for your help!
