'mark folder read' not working

When I right click and select 'mark folder read' on a feed folder in Thunderbird, nothing happens. Is there a work around for this or am I doing something wrong?

I have to go in manually and select all the feeds in the folder and select 'mark as read' rather than using the 'mark folder read' function.
