TB won't send emails containing links
If I send an email it goes through. If the email contains a link it messages "Sent" but it's never received by the recipient.
My steps so far: 1. I have Spectrum and have checked and tested all the various config settings there. Everything there is set right according to Spectrum technical staff. 2. I actually uninstalled TB and deleted ALL folders (/users/ etc.) so I could have a squeaky clean new version 60 install, including no add-ons. 3. I have 4 personal email addresses for testing - roaderunner.com, gmail, 2 personal websites. 4. Sending a group test email without any link goes through to all 4 whether they are marked To:, CC:, or BC:. 5. Sending the exact same message with a link shows the screen completing the send and moving the message to the Sent folder, BUT none of them actually get through to any recipient. 6. The link I'm sending is in a family Christmas letter pointing to a family picture gallery - http://familyalbum.victimsreliefinc.com/index.php 7. I've even shortened it to http://familyalbum.victimsreliefinc.com with the same result.
I've tried to check for any blockage in settings or options and can't find anything. I've even restarted TB without add-ons. I even went into the "config" to see if there was anything I could see regarding either "link" or "send". I couldn't see anything pertinent so I left it alone.
Again, this is not about links not working, it's about messages with links showing "sent" but never getting through.

I'm going to mark this closed, not because it's fixed, but because it's gotten a lot weirder.
Using TB, Pegasus Mail, Gmail, and even direct sends from my websites all work the same. If I paste the link to my sub-domain for the family photo album as the full link, link minus the index page, link minus the index page AND the http://, and even any of the above as a simple text only line without any other text in the test email, not as a link, the will not go through.
Therefore, it must be from the sub-domain, not TB.

As an extra test for the above... I have a couple of websites that can send out mail as as smtp. I set up Outgoing SMTP settings for three of these accounts. Supposedly that means the email goes from TB to my website before it goes out (bypassing Spectrum). They don't get sent out either.
Then I tried sending from my Gmail account. They went out just fine.
What am I missing and why is this happening?
what happens if you use: http://www.familyalbum.victimsreliefinc.com/index.php
No change. The message box come up, cycles through sending, then completes indicating the message was sent.
However, it never arrives. I've tried with other links and they go through.
Another test I tried was sending the message with no links. It went through. So, there seems to be some problem with the link. I can't see anything wrong, though.
I think you are dealing with an anti spam filter, it might even be the one in your anti virus/internet security suite. Is there text after your link? any text. Some of these anti spam filters drop mails that end in either an image or a link.
Do you insert your link as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1245295#answer-1185539
or
anti spam. . . good thought.
I went into accounts and turned off the Junk Settings. I went into options and made sure any related settings were off. I went into Config Editor and set to false all spam settings. I made sure I had no adware, anti-virus, anti-spam software running. I turned off Windows Firewall and Defender.
Nothing made any difference.
I've previously tried both methods of setting the link, both as script and named anchor. I've even tried with and without the "www" since the copied page location shows it without the "www". I've even tried it by dropping the /index.php from the end so it looks for a generic index landing page.
It doesn't make any difference.
This is really frustrating and weird.
just to be sure. Go to the troubleshooting information on the help menu.
What shows up under Security Software?
Mine as an example shows
Security Software Type Name Antivirus ESET Security Antispyware ESET Security Firewall Windows Firewall
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're referring to.
Where do I find this Security Software on my desktop computer running Windows 8.1?
In THUNDERBIRD GO TO THE HELP MENU
Click on the troubleshooting information. Then locate the entry and copy and paste it into a reply here on the forum.
Modified
I think you're referring to Troubleshooting in the Control Panel. Attached are two screenshots of what that does. There's no Security Software to be found on any following links.
No I mean the help menu in Thunderbird. There are two choices and it is on both.
With this menu you have to hover over the words on the menu to get sub menu's to appear, or click on the >
The main menu bar is hidden by default. pressing F10 makes it visible for a short time (until you select something) right clicking the toolbar (a blank space) offers a menu where you can turn it on permanently. My preferred arrangement. I have the app menu that is on the toolbar.
Thank you for the clarification.
Security Software Type Name Antivirus Windows Defender Antispyware Windows Defender Firewall Windows Firewall
As I posted before, I've even tried this with both Defender and Firewall off with no difference.
