On the Home Page, how do I get the little boxes to show a picture for my favorite websites rather than just a letter in the center of the box?
The Opera Homepage has changed a lot, since the last time I used it. First, let me say, this question has NOTHING to do with assigning a homepage.
When I open the Firefox Home Page, it brings up a watered down version of Opera's Speed Dial Screen. It's marginally okay. I hope it gets better.
My question is, when I open a favorite website, and I want to make it a favorite and have it appear as an option in the Firefox Speed Dial (homepage) screen. Then I want it to show an icon for the website I accessed. It currently shows a single letter (the first letter of the website's name) in the middle of the little box. As it currently stands, I have three little boxes all containing the letter A. Having an icon makes it much faster for me to find and access the website I want.
I want an icon (picture) to indicate the website site, not just a single letter. I found a place to edit the little box, where I can enter a URL for a custom icon. I have not a clue where to find such a URL. I guessed at various things and they all get an error message that it's an invalid URL. When you put a website on the Opera Speed Dial, they give you a choice of 3 or 4 icons specific to the website. So it is possible for those icons to be automatically found, without me having to figure out where to find them.
How can I make the Speed Dial page appear as I've described? Thanks for your help.

Generally, this is done automatically. It make take a few minutes for Firefox to actually generate a screenshot of the website because it involves actually loading the website in the background, but eventually the default letter should be replaced with either the website icon (on some websites) or a screenshot of the page.
Otherwise, you can set a custom image URL. This would be a web link that points to an image file. For example, https://static-media-prod-cdn.sumo.mozilla.net/static/sumo/img/apple-touch-icon.png
would replace the default letter with the Firefox logo. You can use any image file that's available online.
Hope this helps.
Any idea where I might find these image files? I have no clue.
I am going to play around with those icons for a while more but they still remain with the single letter after a couple of days now. Maybe I'll log in to each site and let them sit for a few hours and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll delete them and log in fresh and see if that does anything. If none of that works, I'll be back. Promise, or Threat? LOL.
How about a screenshot of the problem that might helps others reading to see what is going on?
Here are a couple of screen shots to help you understand what I'm talking about. The first one is from Firefox showing the boxes with the little letters in the middle. The second one shows Opera's speed dial that has the name of the site, not just one little letter. With Opera I don't have to put my glasses on or open the edit box to see what URL I'm going to. If I have to do that I might as well type the URL.
And while I'm asking, how can I prevent every site that I've gone to from appearing on this home page? Look at the Firefox screenshot and the only ones I might want to see again are the last one on the first row and the first one on the last row. I was looking for something on the internet and I visited those other sites but certainly did NOT bookmark any of them nor do I want them to appear on the home page. I may never want to see them again. How can I get ONLY the sites I've bookmarked to show on this screen? If you look at the Opera screenshot, all those sites, I have bookmarked because I use them on a regular basis. That is what I want in Firefox. I'd love to hear how to solve this. Thanks for your suggestions.
