After dense research of android phone operating systems due to frustration of Google Services being preloaded (even Facebook!) on every new Android device to exist on today's market, I find that Firefox launched an OS back in 2013. I can't seem to download the developer preview I found on a site called wccftech, does anyone else out there know about the fabled Firefox OS? If so, is there any way to download the 2.5 Developer Preview today? If anyone reads this, I thank you and I hope I don't sound too crazy :)

Hi

You do not sound crazy, but I am not sure if we will be able to help.

Firefox OS was a project that effectively stopped in December 2015 on mobile devices. The Developer Preview was an Android app that made Android look and feel like Firefox OS. It is unsupported software that we do not provide updates for (and may not work with more recent versions of Android).

The best way to reduce the use of Google on a mobile device is to turn off as many of the Google apps as possible and replace them with equivalents such as OSMAnd and VLC and of course, replacing Chrome with Firefox for Android. You could even give Firefox Preview a try, a new appnthat is available from the Google Play Store

I hope this helps.

This is fairly crazy. Firefox OS is unsupported. Using LineageOS is a much safer choice.

Alright then... Thank you so much for the alternative!

This is quite helpful and, yes, I downloaded Firefox Preview! Firefox OS sounded like such a great idea, though, I hope someday they will maybe relaunch... Google can't own the game forever!
