Windows 10 Pro, Thunderbird 68.3.0. I have tried all solutions suggested in this forum and knowledge base, but that toolbar stubbornly comes back, and with content in it so that my messages are filtered (in a way I don't want). Have tried restoring defaults, makes no difference. Is there a config file I can edit or recreate? Many thanks in advance!

Hi sfhowes -

Thanks for your response. Reset toolbars and controls from safe mode prompt?

   Yes, no difference

Delete session.json from profile?

Nope, haven't seen that this is a recommended fix for this problem, but I'll certainly try it.

Disable CCleaner?

   Don't use CCleaner

Create new profile from Help/Troubleshooting, about:profiles?

Not an option because my profile is too large and complex.

Thanks again, will post my results.
