Missing Firefox icon in dock, no option to pin

Firefox has disappeared as an icon pinned to the dock. I can open it, from applications or upon startup. If I minimize Firefox, it shows as an icon of the last open window only, not the Firefox icon. Right clicking does not give any option for pinning it either.

Possibly related, UBlock has not been able to update either. I uninstalled it, then reinstalled, same issue.

Make sure you install Firefox properly and that you do not run Firefox from within the DMG (Disk Images) file.

Open the Firefox Disk Images file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Images, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.

Thanks for your reply, it gave me some options to consider. However, Firefox is already in the applications folder, and a search of my iMac shows no Firefox.dmg file exists.

I also read the link you provided and found and used the hint: Tip: You can add Firefox to your dock for easy access. Just open your Applications folder and drag Firefox to the dock.

Again, the only result was an icon of the open Firefox support window, but it did at least pin to the dock doing it that way! That is at least an improvement.

Thanks.
