Hi.

I am located in the UK and subscribe to BBC newsfeeds. I'm using Thunderbird 78.4.0 on Windows 10. News items come in regularly in the normal way, but a problem arises when I want to look at individual news items.

When I double-click on an item of interest, I am expecting the news item to open in a browser in a new Thunderbird tab as normal. However, this only works properly about one time in ten.

What usually happens when I double-click on an item of interest, is that Thunderbird does open the item in a new tab, but only very briefly. I see the proper news web page for a fraction of a second only, then the page is immediately blanked. The tab remains open, but blank, with the correct web page address present at the top. If I want to, I can click on the link and open it with a seperate (Edge) browser.

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated.

It was already mentioned in the other thread that this problem occurs in TB 78, but not in 82beta. Your third picture shows that the pages display correctly in Firefox, which will have to be the workaround until the bug is fixed in TB.

Hello there again Firefox1051

Select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder to open the profile folder, close TB, rename or delete session.json. TB should now open with the same tabs that were open at last exit.

There is a lot of changing the file for the Json file options. This option I gave you is a normal option that has to work with your problem with the tab s Online. Send me a message after trying.

Restarting the computer machine. The new tabs with your wanted webpages or Tabs with subjects will appear.

Sorry, but I tried what you suggested and it doesn't solve the problem! DickL

Which feed (link) doesn't work, and which version of TB did you try?

HI

TB78.4.0. Windows 10. No VPN running.

The first screen shot shows the feed folder with a random item selected. The second shows the result after double-clicking on the selected news item, although the target web page does briefly appear for a fraction of a second before disappearing. The third shot is after clicking on the link at the top of the second screen, and the target item appears in windows as a separate application instance.
