Dear All, Happy new year!

It's Meisam, unfortunately I delete all of my emails in a related thunder bird folder. But fortunately I have the backup in my external hard drive.

My question: How I can restore all of my emails and contact address from my external hard drive to my laptop.

Looking forward for your kind help.

Best, Meisam

all emails, contacts, settings are kept inside TB-profile folder files.

TB = Thunderbird.

usually ALL TB-profile(s) are here: "%APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\" that is usually located here: "C:\Users\<WindowsUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\"

so if your BACKUP have the above mentioned location folders , then you are fortunate & have (almost) all things.

for-example, let us say , you have that here in a backup drive/folder: "D:\BACKUP\MyEarlierDrive\Users\<WindowsUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\"

inside that "Profiles" folder , there are very likely multiple TB-profile sub-folders , they look like this : "xxxxxxxx.profile-name" , where x in xxxxxxxx is a random alphanumeric character/number/letter, etc.

copy all of those TB-profiles in "D:\BACKUP\MyEarlierDrive\Users\<WindowsUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\" copy from above location , and paste into below location inside your Laptop here: "C:\Users\<WindowsUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\"

PLEASE use exact same version of TB in new Laptop, what you used earlier . Later you can change that TB into other/newer TB version.

start windows "Command-Prompt" in your Laptop: start TB in this way first: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderird\thunderbird.exe" -P above command will show a Profile choosing window, select a profile , check if that is your earlier profie which you want-back or not, if not then exit TB, again start TB with above command, & select another profile. when you will find the correct profile that you want to use & have all previous emails+settings, etc , then remember the profile name which you selected in profile-choosing window. exit TB. start TB again using above shown commandline. this time select the correct profile , and also select this option "Use this profile as default profile",etc similar. once you do above step , then you don't have to start TB with a command-line anymore.

you can use TB's icon/shortcut to start TB.

More/Related Info: • Disable AV/FW/SS software mail-protection OR enable+add+allow EXCEPTIONS in it & add mail-server names/address . Some AV/SS creates insecure proxy/gateway for scanning/checking emails, but there are other secure way to scan/check emails . Please make sure the option "Allow AV to Quarantine email" is selected inside TB, and make sure your AV/SS is set to Scan all files on access. • Regain old data , in Windows : by using downgrade process, or by using a Second-TB, or by using manual file-transfer,etc). • Downgrade TB in macOS: downgrade by using second-TB , upgrade/downgrade TB. • ATT-Yahoo related settings for TB. • Yahoo related settings for TB. • Microsoft related settings for TB. • Convert MAB/mork based Address-Book into other format. • Disabled auto-update of TB : inside the linked page , click on the topside 1st link to goto the auto-update disable instruction page into another website.

Dear Sirs, Thanks for your kind advice, i do base on your comment and copy form my back up "Profile" to my laptop. But unfortunately the command on "Command prompt" only open the thunderbird program and don't ask me about the "Use this profile as default profile"

Can you help me how I can do this command.

Also my Mozilla Thunderbird address in drive c is in "Progrma files (x86)" is it important?

Looking for your kind advise.

the "x86" is indicating you're using a 32bit version of TB = Thunderbird.

so command inside "Command Prompt" will be like this, for your case:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -P or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -profilemanager

by the way, i made a mistake in shown earlier command: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderird\thunderbird.exe" -P sorry. it should have been like below, for 64bit TB: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -P

Dear Sir, Nice day to you

Thankas for your reply, I do step by step as your recommendation but unfortunately the *profile-choosing window * doesn't exist.

in command prompt the final command is "thunderbird.exe" and after this command the thunderbird run without *profile-choosing window *

Also in your commander i don't know -profilemanager "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -profilemanager as I say the final command is "thunderbird.exe"

it's will be my pleasure to find your kind advice.

Best, Meisam
