Menu Font Size

more options

I am using Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit) on Win 10 Pro and the menu font size and toolbar icons are minuscule, even on my 32" monitor.

I found a fix for this same problem in Thunderbird, but I don't see any way to make the menu fonts and toolbar icons bigger in Firefox. This has nothing to do with web sites, just the menu/bookmarks, toolbar icons, etc.

Thank you.

You can set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 (default is -1) on the about:config page. Adjust its value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9; you might need large value above 1.5 or 2.0) until icons or text looks right.

  • modifying layout.css.devPixelsPerPx affects user interface and webpages (global zoom)

Firefox has a Zoom section in Options/Preferences to set the default zoom level for webpages in case toy need to correct this after modifying layout.css.devPixelsPerPx.

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Language and Appearance -> Zoom

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

you all talk in your "techy" talk like we all know what you mean. the answers to the problems are not very helpful for unexperienced tech users of your products.

This translates to "you zoom everything up, then try to zoom web pages back down so they look right"

That's madness.

Why isn't there a font selector?

I agree completely that the June 2021 update should include a selector to keep/restore the former large icons on the home page. For the first time in years, I am very disappointed with Firefox.

This thread is about text in the toolbar area. To change the design of the Firefox 89 new tab page back to the earlier one, use this preference:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste newNew and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newNewtabExperience.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox.

Note: That definitely changes the Top Sites back to the old style, but I don't know what else it changes on the page. Also, this preference might be temporary (i.e., might be removed in a later update).
