I forgot my Mozilla Password Account and I fear resetting it will delete my web history.

more options

Recently, I installed an SSD on my computer, which also has my old HHD with my current Firefox account Information.

However, after having had this for a long while, I have forgotten my password and have no recovery keys. I have tried backing up my history, but all I managed to backup was my bookmarks and passwords.

If I were to reset my Sync password in the HHD before switching to the SSD, will I lose all my history and cookies? Is there any other way to manually backup my data without using Sync, or at least to make sure resetting my password won't result in my account data being lost?

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Open the Password Manager. What you want should be listed.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Thank you. I got those saved. But what about my website History? How can I salvage that? I don't want to lose my sites information once I reset the firefox password.

If I log out of my firefox account and then reset the password, will I lose my website history in the computer I'm currently using?

Resetting the sync password, or changing its e-mail or password, will remove all data from the servers. The username and password are used to create the encryption.

This is a security feature. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information

  • I’ve forgotten, or don't have access to, my Firefox Account email address

Note: Only the data on the servers is cleared. The profile data is not changed or removed.

What does it mean "in the servers"? Does that reset only affect the account and not my actual computer so the firefox history remains in my PC even as I log out of Firefox and reset it in the computer itself?

And in the case of a history reset... Could I salvage my history by exporting it to another web browser, such as Chrome or Misrosoft Edge and then reset my Firefox account and import my history back?

my suggestion is to open the ms edge browser and execute an import from FF, which would include history.

and if your FF user data is no longer available, then simply execute an import from edge.
