Mozilla ... every now and then ... just has the talent to screw up SOMETHING!
And I'm very curious ... why is Mozilla - something that worked well - trying to screw up ?! There used to be ... a similar situation with scrolling web pages - on Nvidia cards - it was helped by setting: gfx.webrender.force-disabled = true; because the pages when scrolling on the GTX 970 had convulsions . Currently, however, opening some internet galleries (some photos, previews, etc.) that are opened dynamically - against the background of something - "freezes" the mouse - then you have to click somewhere on the side to make it come to life (we are talking about update 91.0). DO I need to switch something to true / false in the settings again ?! And by the way (and no offense), I have a small request: don't ask me any silly questions, because I've been using computers for almost 30 years.

There are settings in about:config which may be giving you trouble. There are other 'mousewheel' settings. mousewheel.system_scroll_override.enabled mousewheel.system_scroll_override.horizontal.factor mousewheel.system_scroll_override.vertical.factor
Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Note that in Firefox 93 you will no longer be able to disable WebRender.
Maybe I'll add a little more precisely: the point is that after updating to version 91 (previously I had 90.0.2) the mouse quite often becomes non-clickable - the indicator itself does not die, but for example the scroll wheel - yes. In addition, it happens quite randomly - sometimes on dynamically opened galleries, and sometimes even on newly opened websites. Fortunately, clicking somewhere "on the side" brings this mouse to life, but such use just pisses you off! I am using Logitech MX Master 2S with the latest firmware and there is no way that with the older version of Firefox it is working badly! Btw: the settings in about: config I have:

I just suspect that in these "newer and newer" versions of Firefox, someone tries to put emphasis on all smartphone-like devices and then on classic computers something can "fall apart" - you can see it all too accurately. And it's not even about "WebRender", because it's just an example of an earlier complication.
PS I just saw 91.0.1 on https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ - I will install and see ...
Well ... and installed 91.0.1, but this time in the ESR version - nice that it is. And it looks like everything is fine because this "newest functionality" isn't always that good. Thank you for your interest in my case and it seems to me that the topic can be closed.
