Is there an add-on or that restores functionality that updates have removed?

One reason why I liked Firefox so much were two tools in particular that have been inexplicably REMOVED by recent updates, View This Image (or Picture) and View Page Info. Now Firefox is just like everybody else and their brothers. I was wondering if there is an add-on or extension that addresses this deficiency.

I just noticed: Firefox no longer shows installed add-ons and extensions. WTF???

You can use "Tools -> Page Info -> Media" to save the image. "View Image Info" is currently placed behind a pref on the the about:config page.

Do you see the extensions listed on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page ?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Hi

You can access add-ons at about:addons or from the Add-ons and themes option in the Firefox menu.

You can "right click" on an image to open in a new tab (to see just that image).

To view page information, you can press ctrl+I or select the padlock icon in the address bar, from which you can select "More information".

I hope that this helps.

Note that "View Image Info" is currently placed behind a pref on the about:config page.

  • about:config => browser.menu.showViewImageInfo = true

That doesn't work. I don't know where you found that, but my updated version of Firefox doesn't recognize that string.

But I don't WANT to open the image in another tab. I am fully aware that I may do so or, alternatively, copy the image link and paste it into the OPEN tab. However, I genuinely appreciate and thank you for the information about the Windows shortcut. It's exactly what I need for page information. You see, many sites embed code in their pages that prevent users from using mouse selection and context menus to copy text blocks such as page titles, when such security measures are usually reserved to prevent copyright infringement of proprietary images. Thank you.

About add-ons: I don't SEE any there. None, and I know that I have some installed. It makes it impossible to manage add-ons that are installed but not detailed.

I know readers may have been skeptical when I reported that Firefox no longer revealed installed extensions and add-ons. This failure for this browser to allow management of add-ons and extensions was verified repeatedly by myself, and I did not make that assertion out of ignorance or incompetence—I've been using Firefox since shortly after its 2002 launch, months later in 2003, when Netscape died.

A few minutes ago, when I activated the standard pull-down menu option—AGAIN—my installed customizations once more appeared where they are supposed to be seen and managed. I cannot explain why they were not available before, what caused the alarming and weird error. I know only that it is not happening anymore.

Further, now about:config is working, as it was not before, so consequently, I was able to test and determine that the "View Image Info" is both available and working as cor-el had helpfully suggested. It doesn't actually allow me to do what "View Image" actually used to do, but it summons the aforementioned Page Info interface (accomplishing exactly the same things, if not quite what I had desired).

Thank you sincerely for your help. I appreciate your patience, contributors.
