A) I got a new printer, but Thunderbird, when asked to print an email, sends it to the old printer address, where there is no printer now, so it hangs in the queue. How do I reset the default target printer for thunderbird? [ the Thunderbird help response was obscure and unhelpful. Something about prefs, which I could not find] {My other programs send print to the new printer successfully, so the system knows the default printer}

For background, system: Windows 10 64 bit

B) The Thunderbird mentions junk folder somewhere, but my installation does not show me a junk folder icon to look for things that might have gone to a junk folder. {One organization's email to me always disappears. I cannot see any list of whom I might have identified as Junk, and no idea how to remove them from junk, nor indeed to verify that it is going to junk} [ my futile attempt to follow obscure instuctions and "drag the junk icon to the task bar" did not succeed, either because that is out of date, or I did not get right where and what was the desired -task bar-]

Are you saying you are not getting the Print/Preview dialog, and so you can't choose the target printer from that dialog?

That printer part of the question was easy, once I heard what I had to do. I had no idea that Thunderbird would not print on the system default printer. Since the new printer was the same model as the previous printer the print preview window did not disclose that it was trying to print to the canon tr8520 series instead of the canon tr8520 series (copy1), because the basic window did not show enough info to reveal that Thunderbird had not switched to copy 1. I had never before clicked on the down arrow in the print preview, just assuming Thunderbird had switched to the default printer automatically like all my other programs. Clicking the down arrow opened the icon to show all the printer and fax options, and then selecting the correct printer was simple. Now I hope there is such an easy answer to the junk folder issue.

What type of account is it, IMAP or POP? Who is your email service provider?
