2 days ago i could send messages. now I cant. I removed the smtp address like the help section told me to after getting the "Login to account "Google Mail" " dialog box and subsequent retrying of a good password had failed... I havent changed my password and am able to login directly to gmail no problem. thunderbird has the correct /same password but still the dialog box shows. I see the 0auth password ( also attached) but its too long to copy and paste so must be gernerated by google. I tried this after I got the send message error ( also attached) and tried what it said...

Also attached are the current saved logins etc minus the smtp I deleted.... The authentication method is set to 0Auth2.

what am I missing? thanks

YOu fixed it! In Account settings i went into edit smtp server and changed authentication method from normal password to 0auth2 and it worked!

What happened? why did I need to do this? As aforemnentioned it was sending emails just fine 2 days ago... thanks for the direction...

Hello there quanton. We have read your message. We try to help you.

Read the manual and check what is missing.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manual-account-configuration

What dialog box shows up that on the picture? Or are there more pop ups error messages send me. Check all the settings for identities and security. Numbers or letters could be changed.

And if possible send me a picture of your Smtp setting with Gmail included.

Hello there again.

What version do you use from Thunderbird. And what was the time of the latest update/ upgrade of Thunderbird versions?

If you’re using Imap account you can change your security to normal. Also change your security to oauth. Greetings Firefox volunteer

Thanks for reply googlethunderbird, sorry if im a little confused... 1. Ive sent 3 pics of the different dialog boxes ive seen sofar. Do you not see those? Included is the current list of saved loggins that I have. There is not smtp there as I deleted it ( as aforementioned) in response to my first attempt at fixing the issue from what was directed to do in instructions I found at the help site. 2. Why are you sending me a link for manual account configuration? my account is set up and when I click to "Account Actions" as the manual indicates thereis no information as Im directed to select "add mail account which doesnt have any info... Or do you want the info on my account setttings page? I've attached that...

Hello there again .

Oké good that what know now. If it s possible Send me the Smtp settings for incoming and outgoing settings. Are planned to use Gmail with thunderbird again. We know that your Gmail settings are oké to login in your normal account at gmail. That what we know by now from your situation.

I like to check your settings. The manual was for to read and show you how Smtp settings are have to be used .

You can change passwords if you like but keeping them like this is also oke.

Oké got your message, great it s solved . Thank you for using Thunderbird.

That form that s has got you there only the change for oauth was the best option. That solved your question here.

Hello there again.

You’re Smtp setting s has to be.

Incoming: IMAP or POP. ... Server hostname: Input your email access domain. Port: We recommend 993 for Incoming, and 25 or 587 for Outgoing. ... SSL: We recommend using SSL/TLS.

But you can use STARTTLS to begin with. Authentication: Normal Password. Username: Type your full "user@example.com" email address.

Now your settings are oke . You can choose to use G mail again with Thunderbird Software. Your G mail account that seems to be oke. Is needed.

You can start with the installation of Gmail into Thunderbird.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail

If this not working and the same issue comes up reset Thunderbird and delete all stuff that s on your pc from Thunderbird.exe

Clean your pc with a clean software like ccleaner. And install a fresh new installation of Thunderbird Software.

Hello there again. Quanton.

This new message appeared.

As of May 30, 2022, Google no longer allows Less secure apps access for Gmail accounts, thus oAuth is required. If you are using Google supplied "app passwords", Thunderbird version 91.8.0 and newer will make that conversion for you. Further, Gmail accounts do not work with Thunderbird 31 and older because they do not support Google's oAuth (implemented in bug 849540).

Frankly your answers are confusing and seem contradictory and maybe disconnected from my issue...? Do you understand I can now send messages as usual? Are you saying that the problem i encountered is because Im using the wrong port/s? Should I change my ports? You tell me i should use normal authentication then write it must be 0Auth, but I'm already useing 0Auth and SSL/TLS. Is there something else I need to do? do you have an explanation why I couldnt send messages earlier/ why did I need to change my authentication method? wasn't it already set there or is this the new change google was requiring?

thanks
