Hi, For the last 3 weeks I have not been able to send emails through Thunderbird. When I click the send button the whole interface becomes greyed out and the email is not sent. I have tried this on a second computer which never had thunderbird installed and on this one the interface is greyed out but a progress bar is displayed, the email is still not sent(see screenshot). I am setup by POP3 and made sure with my email provider that I am using all the right ports for the pop and smtp servers. Thunderbird has been working for years without issues before that. I connected the same account to outlook and the windows email app and I am able to send emails properly.

Hello

sending mail has no relation with POP3. Sending mail is only related to SMTP. If your main installation has been working before and you did not change anything in Thunderbird configuration, the cause can be either a change in your system (antivirus/firewall are the main suspects) or a change in your mail server configuration. In both cases, reproducing the install in another computer that can have the same OS/antivirus/firewall configuration and obviously the same mail server will logically reproduce the problem. Debugging it can be done by setting in advanced preferences the option mailnews.smtp.loglevel to 'All' and opening the error console (dev tools) before trying to send a mail.

Hello, Thank you for your answer.

This is what I get in the console logs:

NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIAutoCompleteInput.popup] LoginManagerChild.jsm:250

Sending message that cannot be cloned. Are you trying to send an XPCOM object? ConduitsChild.jsm:65:19

DataCloneError: The object could not be cloned.

Sorry for the delay. Your console error message is probably caused by a crash. The cause for the crash may be logged before (or not). You may get a more complete error message by starting in a command window. If you get lot of stuff called 'trace', it may be of interest to post the thing. In the same vein, can you try to start Thunderbird with the --safe-mode command line switch ? if it does not change anything, try to start with --ProfileManager and create a new profile.
