I love Firefox and am a committed user, but on only one of my PCs it runs so slow that I am considering switching browsers. The slowness happens most of the time, but not all of the time, except when I open more than one tab, when it is all of the time. (Neither Chrome nor Edge have any such problems.) The loading time for pages is agonizing, and I have tried the following:

  • Clearing Firefox's cache (which usually fixes the problem for a day or so)
  • Resetting Firefox (which usually fixes the problem for a day or two)
  • Using all combinations of Performance settings (using/not using recommended settings and using/not using hardware acceleration

I am running the same Kaspersky software on this PC as the ones on which Firefox runs well, so I don't think that is the problem (although I'm not an expert tech user, I admit). I'm running an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with 2x8 GB DDR4-3000 RAM. Please advise.

Kaspersky can cause performance issues if you have "Inject script into web traffic to interact with web pages" enabled and don't have the companion browser extension installed.
