Ever since the latest update was installed, all of my browsers, including IE, will not load any web pages. The issue is said to be my proxy server blocking everything. I don't want to go browsing around without one!

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Firefox downloaded and installed the 3.6.4 update

Same problem. I had to restore to the last update to get everything working again.

Go into the Tools->Options->Advanced->Network ->Settings->

and review your proxy settings.

Why is the Update changing the proxy settings?

The default has been changed to use the system proxy setting. Tools > Options > Advanced > Network: Connection

See Bug 500983 – "Use System Proxy Settings" should be default for new profiles.

After the update Mozilla only opens the surround, the centre is blank, and then it shows not responding and the only option is to close it. 3.6.3 works fine

I can't understand what "Use System Proxy Settings" actually is...

we have a wpad server, and 4 proxy servers. Today one server crashed and Firefox 3.6.4 clients stopped working... So:, since Firefox knew to use proxies it probably knew because it loaded proxy.pac... and then, why did it not followed rules included in proxy.pac switching to a working server ????

I updated twice and both times got this. I set it back to a restore point. I DON'T use a proxy server and feel very uncomfortable fooling with network settings

Pardon my ignorance, but:

1. How do I restore the last update, since I'm having the exact same problem as stated above?

2. How do I know what my proxy settings were?

3. Would it solve the problem if I uninstalled Firefox & went w/another browser?

I heve several users on my PC. After installing the update, the system user is fine, but all others experience this problem. All proxy settings are the SAME.

I found that trend micro antivirus, when running on the pc, gives this problem. Unloading it it works

I have the same problem. I would like the choice whether to load the updates, not have them load automatically. I am not a techno wiz. I just want a browser that works. I maybe slow but I don't see an easy to follow solution. My choice at the moment is to get rid or Firefox and go back to IE. If anyone can post a step by step solution it would help the average user like me.

Regarding the updating, you can click tools, options, update on the general tab and remove the ticks for checking, and also put the dot in ask me what I want to do when updates are found

Thanks Keith. Re blocking the auto updates. As a self taught senior I sometimes forget how to get into certain areas if I haven't done it for a while. With your help I have made the adjustments to the settings and hopefully things will run OK now. John S
