Firefox opens two icons in dock when I launch it. Why?
Whenever I launch Firefox 4, two Firefox icons appear in my dock. Why does this happen and how can I have just one icon launch? I'm using a Mac.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened
== I installed Firefox 4 on my iMac

Same problem here. Same specs as everyone else.
iMac OS 10.6 I'm anxious to use Firefox 4 B1 but opening the second icon is too bothersome.
I've used Firefox since 0.5 and am a loyal user but that problem needs to be fixed before I'll use the Beta.
I'll stick with Opera 10.6 until Firefox 4 is fixed.
Same issue here. It is annoying as it opens for flash ads :(
Yep same problem here...here's a pic of it.

Here's a pic of it.
I have the same issue and it's the out-of-process flash running because if you kill it the browser informs you that flash has died.
I have it too.
this is a known bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=557225
me too. i think it is because of flash when you click on the other icon and click on quit in the dock flash will not run ..the pages need to be reloaded.hope it is fixed in beta 2. BTW i love the look of firefox 4 like opera+ chrome
same issue, plz fix. thx moz
I noticed the second icon only appears when my BOOTCAMP partition is loaded If I eject the Bootcamp partition, I only have one icon
Digging further, I uninstalled the Firefox B1 (windows) from the bootcamp partition and all id OK now, only one icon
I would suggest when we start FF 4 B1 on our Mac that it find something on Bootcamp FF 4 b1 and starts it
Can be flash
I am just out of a site that heavely usses Flash, and two icons in dock
It gets annoying when i click on the wrong icon and nothing happens..
If I place a different icon on the FF application I get two icons in the dock - one old and one new - clue?
The second process is running Flash and Quicktime so that Flash crashes won't kill Firefox. This will be hidden in a future build but it was determined that it was more important to get the feature out there for beta testing rather than waiting until it was perfect.
Thanks for the info Cww.
Yep, same problem here.
Same problem. Mac OS 10.6.4, Intel Mac.
Same problem here. Switching back to 3.6 until it's resolved. But thanks for the heads up Cww.
Beta bug ...I'm sure it will be fixed ;-)
