What does: "A license has expired on the Proxy, and your request is not permitted: "The SGOS license has expired" " mean?
I have an intermittent problem with trying to access www.google.co.uk and www.google.com, I just can't seem to access the sites and get the message:
A license has expired on the Proxy, and your request is not permitted: "The SGOS license has expired" == I have tried restarting both my laptop and my ADSL router-modem, but to no avail. Yesterday, I had no problem accessing either site, this just seems to have started this morning.
I do not seem to have this problem with any other web sites, including popular ones such as Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo! or BBC News.

Hello all again.
I have just got off the phone with their customer support and unsurprisingly, (after they got me to play around with some settings on my connection that I knew would not improve matters), they have admitted that there are lots of customers having the same problem.
So, they are saying that they are working on the issue and hope the problem will be fixed by 2.30pm today. They have people working on it, supposedly.
Of course I only got this response after speaking rather technically with the guy that I answered my call.
Thanks for persevering with them, Emily, and for letting us know about your progress. We're all going to benefit from your persistence.
It's fine. I'm just annoyed that I've had an entire morning wasted by trying to sort out this thing.
Interestingly, they said that some customers did have access to Google...
Personally I just think not enough people were using the word "intermittent" in their description of the problem.
Just my tuppence worth..
Yes, I'm having the same problem - ISP is TalkTalk / Tiscali, using both Firefox and Google Chrome on Linux... same problem - can't access google.co.uk / google.com. I've just connected via 3 mobile broadband and it's fine, I can access Google no problem.. So the problem is definitely with TalkTalk... I'm in NW England.
I have the same problem of not being able to access Google through Mozilla Firefox, as of 1.15 pm, Saturday, 17 July 2010. I am with Tiscali now taken over by Talktalk and I live in Cornwall. Thank you Emily for your persistence. I will contact Talktalk and let them know that the problem extends to Cornwall.
I'm glad to hear this is nothing wrong with my computer but a stupid talktalk/tiscali problem. Going to contact them and let them know the problem extends to Northern Ireland too.
Clearly 2:30 was optimistic
when will it be corrected?MONDAY?
(This is Emily, I just bothered to log in.)
Well, I've just come back from doing some shopping, and it's the first time I've been online since around 1.30pm...
The problem still isn't fully resolved and it's 3.21pm (BST) now. I can get on to google.co.uk, but if I use my my little search box in the top right corner of Firefox, and have the search engine set to Google, I still get the error.
So, it still seems to be having problems with google.com.
I.ve been having the same problem all day, what is going on??
We are still able to access Google only on our XP Pro laptop (via wifi), very odd.
This is all most confusing and rather annoying.
As yet no mention of this problem on the talktalk status page:
Good old Tiscali - now talk talk - or should I say CRAP Talk Talk. Only just got my broadband service back after 2 weeks with no phone. Not a happy chappy :(
I can't get on to google.co.uk via the address bar or the google search box. Maybe they really have let their license expire and we'll have to wait for the banks to open on Monday before it's sorted out :)
I'm in NW England too
Then again this is the Typical lack of service from Talk Talk - only just got my connection back after 2 weeks with no line...
Don't relish ringing the so called customer support again. Spent too much money with them already :)
what do i do ive got the same problem and am on the phone to talk talk now whats going on. i dont understand i am in the uk westmidlands. i cant access google.co.uk but i can access everthing else
Same problem, from Cornwall aswell and with Tiscali/TalkTalk. I'm so restricted not being able to access google for my research! I hope it gets resolved soon, in a way I'm glad that the problem is not caused by me.
Same here bloody talk talk.
I've been using Yahoo all day, don't like it as much but it works.
Im very glad not just me. Thought is was a problem with my machine
