The moving band on the lower right of the window that shows progress of page loading is missing.
This little moving bar (or band or stripe) used to show the progress of page loading. Now, it is gone.

Is your Status Bar hidden? On the Firefox menu, click View, if there is no check mark next to Status Bar, click Status Bar to place a check mark there.
You need to update your plugins. It is important to keep them updated due to continuing security fixes and improvements in those plug-ins:
- Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20 for Mozilla browsers
- Check your plugin versions: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Note: plugin check page does not have information on all plugin versions
- Update Java:
- Download and update instructions: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Java+plugin+with+Firefox
- After the installation, start Firefox and check your version again.
Checking the View/Status Bar didn't help. That does toggle the whole status bar off-on, but the moving progress stripe still doesn't appear.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems
The problem was one of the extensions. I uninstalled the troublemaker, and Firefox is back to normal. Thanks!
