FF update is blocking me from uninstalling FF browser
I have FF 3.6.0 Apparently there is an update to this version. I received a message telling me to allow for install od update. So I had it installed, with the message that the next time I started FF up, the update would be installed. So I boot up the computer, then the update starts, but quickly tells me that there is another FF copy open, and the following message "Software installation failed because there is another copy running." I cannot find any other copy running. When I click OKAY on this error message, the update still tries to load, resulting in the same error message showing up again. Plus, I cannot remove FF version 3.6.0 from my computer AT ALL. Every tool I use (uninstall through Control Panel, deleta button, etc), winds up with the updtae block telling me I have to close any other copies of FF first! I do not have any other copies of FF installed on my computer!! I cannot remove this browser at all and reinstall becasue of this silly update I should NOT have downloaded!! Have to use IE now because I cannot resolve this update block!

Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html) and do a reinstall of Firefox on top of the current version.

Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder:
Vista/Windows7:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)
