Multiple username drop-down menu missing, but password still fills in after manually entering username.
The last few days the multiple username drop-down menus have disappeared on ebay, facebook, etc. where I have multiple accounts That I access several times a day. Yet, when I manually fill in the username the password still auto-fills, so I know the ID's are stored.
I checked Tools>Options>Security and, yep, the ID's are stored there.
Double clicking in the blank username box does nothing. No drop-down.
How do I re-enable the username drop-downs? I'm not sure it's been disabled totally, since I just added multiple usernames to my Google signin and that seemed to function.
I'm annoyed and confused. I flip back and forth between multiple ebay accounts all day and this is realllly frustrating.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

- Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.
- You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
- To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
I'm not in private browsing mode (never have been), I already checked to make sure but forgot to list that in the troubleshooting I'd done.
Thanks for thinking of it. Any other thoughts or ideas?
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I'm going to save it for future use since, for some unknown reason, when I got on my laptop today, the drop-down menus were there again! I have no idea what made them stop working or what made them work again. I didn't do any tweaking, testing, or troubleshooting yesterday, so nothing changed on my end...but now they're mysteriously back! Yeah!
Do you have the Google Toolbar for Firefox installed?
The problem you describe is a well-known incompatibility between Firefox and the Google Toolbar for over two years (I think since version 4 of the Google Toolbar was released).
This bug was listed on the Google website under "Known issues" for some time, but it was never solved, and is no longer listed there. I guess Google either gave up or, if you're cynical, is trying to drive Firefox users to their Chrome browser.
Until recently I put up with the annoyance of not being able to simply click to select a username on websites where I had several passwords stored, because I really like some of the features of the Google Toolbar.
I just discovered and installed the Googlebar Lite add-on, which offers all of the features I like about the "official" Google Toolbar, and none of the annoyances.
Anyway, if you are using the Google Toolbar, disable it and your username drop-down selection menus should return.
Ken
Hi Ken, Thanks for letting me know about Google Toolbar Lite. I hadn't heard of it, so I'm going to take a look at it. What I have noticed is that the drop-downs disappear from eBay's sign in, not any of the others currently, and only sporadically. It'll be fine for days and then gone for days. Next time it starts that again, I'll try out the Google Toolbar Lite and see if that stops it.
Out of curiosity, do you know if this is still an issue with FF4 and the Google toolbar? I haven't upgraded to 4 yet, still using 3.6.something or other.
Yes, the problem persists in Firefox 4.
Thanks for the heads up and all the other info!
