Lost Firefox when upgraded to ver 4.0 (have Mac OS 10.4.11) & all settings (incl. passwords, etc)
Have ancient Mac OS 10.4.11, and was upgrading to Firefox "beta" ver. 4.0 (prior: ver 3.0.4). Loaded dmg 2 or 3 times, but couldn't get it to launch (that was beginning of Mar'11).
Since then, have been using Safari ver 4.1 (hate it: too slow, keeps crashing & keeps asking for "password" to update RSS feed?), so want to return to Firefox (any working version). I just tried to download Firefox ver 4.0, but now when download's complete, there's white circle w/slash over Firefox icon (the one i'm supposed to drag into the image of the Application folder).
And error message when i try double-clicking the application to launch it: "The application "Firefox" cannot be launched. -10661 "
OK, that's ominous & i don't know if it's because my Mac OS 10.4 is not compatible, or if something else is wrong.
Also, i lost all my browser pref's (from the older version 3.0.4 of Firefox) & would ideally like to "restore" them, whenever i can get any version of Firefox running on my system, again.
I don't have Time Capsule up & running (needs upgraded Mac OS, which i haven't done, yet), but i did backup my whole hard drive on a Passport external HD. I moved all existing versions of Firefox dmg to my Trash ... but have not yet deleted them from Trash can, if that's any help?
Help! thanks! sportyjk

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com
