I have one toolbar that has a dropped down box (Google) and interferes with the toolbar below it (Roboform). How can rearrange which toolbars are on top and which ones are on the bottom?

Right click a blank part of the Tab Bar and choose Customize from the menu. A panel will open and while it remains visible, you can rearrange the layout by dragging elements such as toolbars and buttons around.

You can also remove elements by dragging them into that panel. Similarly, you add to the existing layout by dragging other elements out of there.

It tried the method you suggest two days ago, and can't make it work. The window that opens only allows me to drag new buttons from it to toolbars. I get the same on all the bars (menu, address, bookmarks and tabs). Does anybody know another way?

Thank you for the quick reply. I have tried your suggestion, but it does not work on the toobar in question (Roboform). I don't want to simply rearrange the individual items ON the toolbars. I want to rearrange the toolbars themselves--moving the one toolbar above the other.

Are you using Roboform 6 or 7 carlwood? If it's v6, you need to update to v7. See http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7

Well, I just tried moving toolbars around on my own system and didn't encounter any problems.

I can't comment specifically about the Roboform Toolbar extension because I have never used it, but many addon toolbars don't have the code necessary to allow the elements of those toolbars to be merged with other toolbars. If you find that you can't move something from one toolbar to another toolbar, try moving something else to the toolbar that you want to move - that usually works.

You can try to rearrange the toolbars with code in userChrome.css by specifying a higher -moz-box-ordinal-group value.

Silem tweaked a version to make it work in Firefox 4 (maxVersion: 6.0), so you can give it a try:

I tried following the instructions, but it did not change anything. I am not 100% sure that I was creating the userChrome.css file properly because I was still a little in the dark about exactly what I needed to enter into it.

I finally resolved my problem by uninstalling the Google toolbar (which was on top) and reinstalling it. This caused it to be positioned on the bottom of toolbars where I wanted it.

I would still like to understand the editing of the userChrome.css file for future needs. Any additional tutorial sites with good examples?
