Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
- Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
- Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
- Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
- Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.
This is a typical example of changing something for the sake of change as opposed to providing any benefit for the user. The locations of the reload and stop buttons were fine in the old version; yet somebody decided to relocate them in what is a difficult place to find. Why do people do this? Fixing things that aren't broken. Firefox was and is, a terrific tool. Please, developers, don't mess unnecessarily with it. I spent ages trying to re-locate these buttons. Not everyone is a developer, or wants to be one. I buy gadgets for the use I get out of them, not just to own them or show them off. Same too with software. If it works for me for what I want it to do, I'm happy with it. Change for the sake of change is a bad idea in my view.
Thanks for the help/advice postings.
John.

Hi Everyone!
Just to clarify on Edmeister's advice - the Stop button does not appear in the View - Toolbars - Customise box (when you press those buttons - if you're looking for it there). It does (for some weird reason) turn up to the right of the location bar (the address - www. bar) when you're in the View - Toolbars - Customise box (where it used to be) but only when you're in the Customise box. Go outside of the View-Toolbars-Customise box (with the hand) and you'll be able to grab the Stop button and move it OUT and away from the location bar, so that you'll be able to use it when you're done! Yay! (Hope this is helpful to some),
Annette
I agree with John. Why waste people's time with nonsensical, needless changes? If it's not broken, don't fix it. Most of us actually have better things to do with our time than to react to whatever whims strike the developers at Firefox.
