I just installed Foxfire 4 and now have 2 more lines added to my browser. There are already too many lines taking up too much screen space in my browser. I now have two lines showing which web page I am viewing. I need to eliminate the new foxfire added line at the top with the orange button. I need the open page with the search engine combined with the tool line(file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, help. I would also like the order of the lines in my browser changed back to the way they were. 1. File.. View .. History.. Bookmarks .. Tools.. Help.. open page being viewed.. search box 2.Most visited pages so I can easily go to them. 3. Pages currently open in my browser. New order is 1. open page 2. tool line file, edit, view, history , bookmarks tools help 3. open pages 4. open page and search engine space 5. most visited pages. As you can see there are now two lines devoted to the one open page, and an extra line has been added just for the tools..(file, edit , view, history, bookmarks, tools, help) These two lines need to be eliminated. I like the tools, but want them on the same line as the open page and search engine. Those three things should be on 1 line, there should not be a line for each. I hope someone can help.

If you do not like the new appearance of Firefox 4 then you can change some setting to restore the Firefox 3 appearance.

You can right click the orange Firefox button to open the toolbar menu or use (F10) View > Toolbars.

  • Click the Menu Bar entry to make the Menu Bar visible.
  • Click "Tabs on Top" to remove the check mark and place the Tab Bar at its original position just above the browser window.

I appreciate your help, i have not figured out how to fix the problem yet. I still have that stupid orange foxfire line at the top, with nothing else on it. What a waste of space. I no longer have a tool bar, I cannot figure out how to combine it with my search bar and browsing page all on one line. If I try and put the tool bar up, it is on 1 line devoted just to it. then there is an extra line for bookmarks, which I never use then the line with the page I'm browsing and the search engine.. I no longer have my favorite bar, which was one of my most used bars. I'm at a complete loss, and quite upset. The only way I know to fix the problem is to go back into history and reset my computer to a date before I upgraded to foxfire4. I tried all the remedies you mentioned. They are either over my head or didn't work. I did end up with two additional bars, the bookmark bar and a blank bar. I know there is a way to take a picture of the screen, but I don't know how. That could be helpful if i knew how to do that. The more I play with it the worse it gets, I've lost my search engine and my favorites line now. I no longer have the line showing the page I'm browsing where I can drag it directly to my favorites line. the page I'm browsing has moved to the top on the foxfire line.

I appreciate your reply, I've tried some of those things, the problem is now I've lost my favorites line, my search engine line with the page I'm browsing. My tool line is used often so I like it at the top, it when away and I put it back. I also like the search engine visible, the search engine is gone now, since the page I'm browsing is at the top with the orange foxfire symbol. Missing my favorites page is really a pain, now I'll have to book mark all the pages that were on the favorites line. It used to take one click to get to them now it will be two or more clicks, as I have to go to bookmarks and then to the page. In the past I saved nothing in bookmarks, everything was on the favorites line. My email used to be on my favorites, now its not, Other favorite sites were also there, these sites will have to be goggled again, to find them and add them to bookmarks. My only remedy appears to be to go back in history and set my computer to before i installed foxfire4.

You're welcome

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that all the toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Where is the restore default setting, I don't see such a symbol, mark, word. Remember I said this was a favorites bar added, it was not a bookmark tool bar, none of my favorites had ever been bookmarked. This was a drag and drop bar, much much easier and more useer friendly than bookmarks. I wish I knew where I had gotten it, because it is so much better than bookmark. It must have been something added, not foxfire, that the new foxfire update eliminated. I am really missing it.

I tried that, since it wasn't a foxfire add on it didn't help. I finally restored my computer to before I updated to Foxfire4.3 or whatever it was last week. All is fine again. The worse thing was foxfire had quite working completely, it kept hanging up, not responding, freezing, anything but working. I was left with internet explorer which I don't like. I'm fine again, no problems now since I've restored to before I updated.
