why can I not install adobe flash, I get a message saying it will not install while firefox is runing

When I try to download adobe flash player everything goes fine and the download finishes. When asked to install I get a message that says it will not install while an application is running. Which is Mozilla Firefox

Adobe Shockwave Flash needs to install plugins for Firefox, and Flash needs to do that with Firefox closed. So close Firefox and run the Flash installer.
