Update warns that Avast! & Internet Security will be deleted if I update Firefox. How do I update without losing Avast!

Four issues: I'd received a warning with the Firefox update announcement that upgrading would delete Avast! Firefox crashes too often. Adobe Reader stopped working and now I have to "agree" to Terms every time I use it. QuickTime Player crashes.
