System: Linux - Fedora 15 x86_64 on AMD64 Firefox was upgraded yesterday from 4.x to 5, flash player was working all right before upgrade, with liblashplayer.so from http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/square/

After upgrade, flash player does not work. Various pages give different errors or doesn't do anything at all. On Facebook, it says upgrade or get flash player. On youtube videos, the follwing plugin is required, for: H.264 decoder and MPEG-4 AAC decoder. The progress bar moves as though playing the video with no audio or video at all. Installing these last reported plugins doesn't make any diff. I've tried both 64 and 32 bit flash plugins from http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/square/ and the 32-bit adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm

Please let me know how to resolve this problem.

PS: Saw similar issue at https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/839539 . However I could not figure out how "to install flash from lucid repositories (which works... named 'flashplugin installer')." ...

Gave up on looking for solutions. Removed Firefox, all instances of libflashplayer.so, nswrapper*libflashplayer* , all variants of gnash from the system (gnash was installed only after the original problem was encountered to see whether it helps - it did not). Re-installed Firefox and libflashplayer.so from http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/square/ . Not a great solution but Flash now works without a hitch - although I am left wondering why it didn't work in the first place!

This may seem like a stupid question, but worth checking... Did you install the 64-bit preview release of Flash Player or the 32-bit version (which will not play in 64-bit versions of browsers)? Have you been to this page? [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html]

PS. In the Linux section of the above Adobe support page they mention as an alternative you can use a compatibility layer such as NSPluginWrapper if you are using a 64-bit browser, otherwise you'll need to go to a 32-bit browser.

Thank you for the response,https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/user/466641 . What you've mentioned seems to me on of the things I had already tried. But as I mentioned, the re-installation I mentioned in the first response of this thread works. With certain updates of Linux (yum update) either the video or the audio got broken and I had to resort to this update every time. Today I found an updated beta flash player (11) at the Adobe site Adobe website and that seems to be working without a problem right now. Will have to wait and see whether it's stable and isn't affected by Fedora or other tool updates.

The new adobe update provides a set of files to be installed from your root dir. The libflashplayer.so will need to be replace your existing copies. Here's the list of files:
