Having been prompted to update I clicked on yes. Update failed. I tried to update manually from web site but was asked to close Firefox before proceeding - Firefox was closed. I tried to un-install the old version so that I could install the new one - again I was asked to close Firefox before it could be un-installed and again it was already closed. Stuck now - no idea what to do to get the new version. O.

Hi Olwen,

Firefox might have been running still in the background. This does happen sometimes. I'd suggest you try restarting your computer, then try uninstalling the old version. You could also try right clicking in the taskbar and then opening the Task Manager. This will show you the list of running processes on your computer. If Firefox is running, you can manually kill the process.

There is also a Knowledge Base article with information on what do if the How to fix the Update Failed error message when updating Firefox. There is lots of useful information there.

Hopefully this helps!
