downgrading is not the good option, run a clean install of Firefox 8, get fresh installer from
if problem still persist in even in Firefox 8 Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Only Firefox 3.6.x and Firefox 8 are supported. Once Firefox 8 has been released all older 4 till 7 versions are no longer supported and have unpatched security vulnerabilities.

If you have submitted Breakpad crash reports then post the IDs of one or more Breakpad crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page. You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Every update screws up my computer! How about just changing 1 thing at a time until we see how it works. I've had this extra "how to use Firefox" page in my face every time I connect to the internet. I'm sure I would love all this new stuff if I was a tweeker, but I'm not! I'm just trying to avoid IE and Google! I know I'll figure it out, but I hate wasting my time re-configuring my computer every time you update.
No offense and I hope you don't take this the wrong way because I understand that you're trying to help, but, honestly, why do we or should we have to go through all of that just to use the internet? It should just work. There shouldn't be 'some assembly required'.
Because Firefox is not for you, its for all and our mission to make web open, free and accessible for all so if you submit crash report it will help us to trace the problem and it will help to make next build better.:)
Firefox 8 is horrible. Please Mozilla, take us back to 7. The look and feel of 8 is the worst ever!!
I have always used Firefox and have always recommended Firefox to all friends that used IE. Now things have changed, everyone is asking me why I told them about Firefox. They hate this new version and reading what is all over the web, seems there's an enormous amount of loyal Firefox users who cannot stand this latest version. Please listen Mozilla. 8 is horrible. I'm begging you, please please please, take us all back to a previous version. The old 3.6 was the best of all.
old versions here http://www.oldapps.com/firefox.php?old_firefox=83
Version 8 is pretty bad for me as well. I went back to 3.6. I can use localhost and wampserver with 3.6, cannot do that with more recent versions. Firefox just sucks compared to chrome 15.
older firefox versions can also be found here: http://www.oldversion.com/Mozilla-Firefox.html
"Because Firefox is not for you, its for all..."
Are you kidding me? Since when did "all" not include an individual person? Face it, people are unhappy with Firefox 8. Some very loyal, faithful users are looking elsewhere now. I've used Firefox since the beginning (when it was Mozilla suite). I've always told people they should try Firefox and forget about InternetExplorer. But I won't be doing this anymore, at least not until I see what Firefox does to fix v.8. It's very disappointing.
I wish I had "hidden" v.7 somewhere on my hard drive, since now it's gone and you can't download it anymore. If I had know this, I would have waited to see if v.8 problems got fixed. :(
Hurry up and download v3.6 before it's gone, too!
@jimfre, re: "older firefox versions can also be found here: http://www.oldversion.com/Mozilla-Firefox.html"
That isn't a Mozilla web site. Seems a bit risky to download and Application from some unknown entity.
Firefox v 3.6 sounds like the safest bet for now...

At time of this writing. Firefox is using a whooping 429 MegaBytes of Ram. It's slow, It crashes frequently and I'm constantly having to reload websites to view them. The websites failing to load are both unknown sites and known problem free sites like google.
Firefox 8 is a disgrace.
See attached image for memory usuage. Terrible.
