Google docs suddenly says there's a cookie problem. Worked fine until last few days.

It said to make sure cookies were enabled. So I went to Privacy and allowed web sites to track me. It still doesn't work. Next, it said that maybe I need to clear my cache and cookies. It has no info for versions of Firefox past 3.5, so I have no idea what to do now. If anything can be done. Google Docs still works fine in Chrome.

To see all history and cookie settings, use:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
  • Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "Tools > Options" if the menu bar is hidden.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I got Google Docs to work again. I cleared the cache, as suggested. As to the cookies, your "Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies: Show Cookies" line doesn't exist on Firefox 9.0.1. Instead, I got "You may want to clear your recent history or remove individual cookies." Since I had no idea what individual cookie might be causing the problem, I deleted all cookies. Now will come the fun of logging back on to several sites that won't know me when I get there. I guess the question that bothers me is, what the hell suddenly happened? Was there a Firefox update that changed things, or was this just a "one straw too many for the camel's back" situation? I'm happy to have it back working, but if this was caused by a Firefox update, it's a good way to get people to stop updating the browser (which is my favorite browser).
