Firefox not remembering passwords on my new computer
HI, I just got a new computer with Windows 7. I was able to transfer most of my profile from my Window XP by following the HELP articles on how to backup and transfer profiles. I did it with a removable Flash Drive. My passwords were not transferred, neither were my Add-ons. I can live with that, except that now Firefox is not remembering any of my passwords. EX: E-bay, AOL mail etc. I have to sign in all of the time and type the password even though Firefox little window with the SAVE PASSWORD comes on and the password is supposedly saved.I have checked all of your articles about Saving Passwords and all of the settings are correct. I went into the Saved Passwords Window in my profile and it is empty. Do you think something got corrupted in the transfer? I have the cable to do an Easy Transfer from on computer to another but now I am afraid that I am going to have a double profile or that things are going to get more corrupted if I do so. I would wait for your answer before I decide to do the transfer again with the Easy Transfer cables.

Did you copy both key3.db and signons.sqlite to the profile folder?
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.

Hi Cor-el
Yes both keys are in the new profile folder. I went in today again into the saved password folder in Firefox and two of the passwords I used yesterday were saved. The only thing I could think of is that when the Password Manager window came up asking to save the password, I was not clicking on it to save the password. In my other computer with XP and an earlier version of Firefox, the password window use to come up and it would save it automatically without having to click on it. I updated my old to the newest Firefox a few days before doing the transfer. I would keep checking to see if the new passwords are saved when I click on the Password Manager window. If not I would follow your instructions and let you know. Thanks again for all of your help. Amy
