The list of search engines on Firefox installed under Windows 7 (on 2 different systems) does not match the list of defaults shown in the Firefox help, specifically it does not include Yahoo but instead includes yahoo.co.uk. When I look at the list of available search engines I cannot find either Yahoo itself (US) or Yahoo!7 (Australia) so I can select one of them. I really want to use Yahoo!7 (Australia) not yahoo.co.uk. By the way, the same release of Firefox (10.0.2) installed under Windows XP *does* include Yahoo, and if I select it as my search engine, the searches are performed not on Yahoo itself (that is, US) but on Yahoo!7 (that is, Australia)

Visit the Yahoo7 Website and click on the icon in the search bar. Then click "Add Yahoo!7"

Or visit the Yahoo7 Website and click in Add Yahoo!7 to the Firefox Search Box in left up corner.

This works fine on my Win XP system. However on both my Win 7 systems, I do not get the 'Add Yahoo!7' option.

Please note I have Win 7 Starter on a netbook and Win 7 Pro on a desktop, so the problem is there on 2 different versions of Win 7

Press this button while on Yahoo7, then click Add Yahoo!7

You need to make sure that you're on http://au.yahoo.com

I am on http://au.yahoo.com. I click on the icon at the left hand end of the Search Bar. The drop down list consists of the predefined search engines and Manage search engines ... but nothing else, it does *not* contain Add Yahoo!7. This is on both Win 7 systems.

One thought I just had, when I downloded Firefox, I had the option of US or British English. I chose British. I will try again, downloading US to see if the behaviour is different

I uninstalled the British English version on one Win 7 system. Downloaded and installed the US English version. The default search engines list now includes Yahoo rather than yahoo.co.uk. If I then search specifying Yahoo, the results are from au.search.yahoo.com so at least it is searching on the site I want it to. However when I go to au.yahoo.com, and click on the icon at the left of the Search Bar, I do *not* get an option to add Yahoo!7 as a search engine.

I find that my Win XP system has the US English version installed, and, as I said above, it did allow me to Add Yahoo!7 as a search engine.

To summarise, for Firefox 10.0.2 :

Win XP + US English = Add Yahoo!7 is possible but search on either Yahoo or Yahoo!7 gives results on au.search.yahoo.com

Win 7 + US English = Add Yahoo!7 is not possible but search on Yahoo gives results on au.search.yahoo.com

Win 7 + British English = Add Yahoo!7 is not possible, search on yahoo.co.uk gives results on yahoo.co.uk
