When I click on images in a google search I get only about 12 images in FF10.0.2 and the "options" and "safe Search" buttons on the page do not work. This only happened after I upgraded to 10.0.2. The previous version worked fine. IE also works OK. I have not changed any settings in FireFox and have checked the blocked image file and the image permissions are set to 1

I set up sync in both profiles and transferred the data that way so only need to reload the add-ons now.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Please check if this happens in Safe Mode. Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.

Hi. Yes, the problem still exists in safe mode.

Thanks.

Does this happen if you use this link (Images on the left after entering a word): https://encrypted.google.com/

Yes, I see all the images using that link.

You can try to check the settings in the security software. You can also try to temporarily disable it completely to test the normal Google image search without clicking any results on the search page, to be safe. Please also see this. Many antivirus software also have network traffic scanning functions though they may not always be able to scan secure (HTTPS) traffic.

I have re-installed FF, disabled firewall and AVG anti-virus but still the same problem. Maybe it is easier to go back to the previous version of FireFox which gave me no trouble?

Please also try a new profile. If possible, please also check in Windows Safe Mode with Networking. Safe mode with networking.

Yes, using a new profile works. Does that mean something has gone wrong in my default profile settings?

A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in Tools (Alt + T) > Options and about:config, and usually wouldn't have any Extensions or themes (Appearance) in Tools > Add-ons until newly installed. Also the cache, cookies etc. would be empty and can be cleared in the old profile via Tools > Clear Recent History, choose Everything in Time range to clear, Cache and Cookies in Details and Clear Now. Clear Recent History.

If this profile is okay, you can transfer the personal data like bookmarks (bookmarks folder or places.sqlite file), passwords (key3.db + signons.sqlite) etc. from the previous profile to the new one. Firefox stores the profile data separate from its files and folder.
