(Trying to open bookmark mger & get Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (chrome-extension) isn't associated with any program.)

Are you using "Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks" to open the Bookmarks Manager (Library)?

Going to Show All Bookmarks first then to the item to be deleted works fine.
