My windows 7 updated and now firefox is really slow!
When I was working this morning, firefox was working great. My windows updated and and I turned my comp off for the day. Now, later, after the registry updated, I can't get firefox to load. It freezes immediatly after it comes up. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I then left it up for a while, while I searched for solutions. Well, when I checked back, it was loaded! Its not that its freezing, its loading r--e--a--l--l--y---s--u--p--e--r--s--l--o--w (really super slow if you didn't catch that). I mean, like "I'm a ten year old computer that hasn't been cleaned in a while" slow. My comp is new and I regularly clean it. Internet explorer loads fast. Please let me know if there is a way to fix this. I realize my windows must be having some issue with firefox since it just updated but I don't know what to do. I really hate IE so I'd really apreciate help! (And my typing would apreciate the spell checker!) Oh, and I have forefox 12, should I switch to an earlier version? Is the new version just fighting with windows while techs fix bugs?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
