I've been trying for 3 days to setup firefox sync. It keeps hanging at "Verifying" and doesn't ever verify. Help!

I have updated, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and nothing seems to help. I am on Windows 7 with the latest version of Firefox. Also, the window where you put your information to create the sync account is acting peculiar. Three buttons at the bottom are blank. I click the "Options" (I think, because it doesn't have a name) button and select all. Then select the button that should say "Next" on it, but both those buttons say "Undefined" on them. Then I get "Verifying" and it hangs there.

Hi,

You can consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the Default User profile. While the Profile Manager is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be).

Well that resolved the problems with the sync setup window. I can see the captcha now and I couldn't see that at all before. I can also see the names of the buttons. It's still hanging at verifying though. Incidentally, when I try to create the account with the email I was using before it says that email already exists, yet when I try to pair my iPhone it can't make the connection. Tried with a different email and hung at verifying. Thanks for trying, we've made progress. Got anymore tricks up your sleeve?

Entering about:sync-log in the location (address) bar would give you links to the error logs. Hopefully there would be helpful clues. To check for possible temporary Sync service issues please see this. You can try to verify the current status of your account here.

I deleted both sync accounts that they had listed for me that never completed yet were logged somewhere in their system. Trying again and stuck at verifying. Ps: their Captchas are brutal. Deleted all history, files, cookies, etc. still stuck. Thank you for your help. I think the problem is on their end.
