I am using Firefox 21.0 on a Windows 7 Pro computer. Firefox often doesn't display the url for web pages that I am on and I would like to have the url displayed. Is there an easy way to ensure that?

Firefox should always display the URL of the current page, but by default will not show the http:// part of the URL. Is the problem that the Navigation Toolbar is missing completely, or that something other than the URL is displayed there.

To make sure the bar is displayed, either:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar > Navigation Toolbar
  • tap the Alt key > View menu > Toolbars > Navigation Toolbar

Toolbars occasionally become corrupted. You can reset the toolbars to their default setup as follows:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button

Switch back to Firefox and Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename localstore.rdf to something like localstore.old

Restart Firefox.

Any luck?
