after updating to 24 nothing works anymore, no tabs, no menus, I cant reset, cant open addon page, and so on.
after updating to firefox 24 nothing works or behave anymore as it should. I cant open new tabs. I cant open menu items. I cant even enter about:config, I cant enter options, and the system doesnt start in safe mode. as to say: firefox opens but without the safe mode menu directly to the home page. I cant enter the troubleshooting info. and *** I cant even browse. system is win7 pro 64b On a new Win7 install no problems on firefox 24. on an old XP 24 works like a charm. on a win8 firefox 24 and nightly works like a charm I think a faulty add on is keeping 24 from working properly but I cant acces them from firefox. is there a workaround to disable add ons Sorry, but I had to use IE to send this to the forum

Do you mean that you do not see any toolbars?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
- Firefox menu button > Options
- View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
- Right-click empty toolbar area
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Back+and+forward+or+other+toolbar+items+are+missing
You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file if the above didn't help.
Hi, It has nothing to do with full screen, I can see and acces the firefox button. But in the firefox menu I cant acces any of the items. not even the "help" or "about". The only thing I can do is showing the menubar. but also the items on the menubar are not accessible. I uninstalled firefox completely but that made no difference. firefox still keeps unresponsive. however, I can open the troubleshoot info page. the results I copied under this answer. On the health report page it shows that all extensions and add ons are off.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Hi Cor El,
problem is: I cannot access the options. the complete firefox menu is not functioning. no options, no add ons, no nothing. I really need another way to access firefox settings or a way to deregister everything according to firefox. updating to beta 25 did not work, the same problems reinstalling 24 did not work
You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:
- On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
- On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
I cannot start firefox in safe mode. I am searching the registry now and it seems there are a lot key and values pointing to firefox 23 instead of firefox 24. something tells me a part of the problem lies here. aftre a registry bu I will try to delete all 23 key and values and install 24 all over again
got it working again. 1. uninstalled ff23 using config screen 2. removed all registry keys and values pointing to ff23 3. manually removed all ff folders from the system disk 4. got the most recent ff24 from the web 5. installed ff24 from here all runs as it should be
What i think happened is: a few months ago I experimented with an extra domain update installer called LUP. this way it could be easier for me to spread updates for firefox or other third party through my windows domain (50 computer most of them running firefox as default browser) to do so I had to find an .msi package for firefox 23. no problem there. But after testing on my own computer it was clear that this install method would overwrite all user settings in ff. so I rolled back to the normal install method. no problem there. But the .msi method left some registry garbage which which couldn't be overwritten by the ff24 installer. When starting ff24 some of the values still pointed to ff23 and the conflict was there. solved now. happy again. lesson to learn: you always need a way around. not everything can be solved from within firefox.
