Dear Support,

I can't view any .cfm file using a MAC laptop with firefox. However, I can view any cfm file with safari, and I can view any .cfm file with Windows firefox.

I have adobe reader and everything but I still can't view this file using firefox !

Is there any way to solve the problem ?

The .cfm page is a kind of script processed by a server-based program named Cold Fusion. When you open links to .cfm scripts, the server sends Firefox a document and informs Firefox whether it is a web page, PDF, or something else. Is Firefox confused about how to display the file, or does it appear blank, or what exactly is happening?

If the problem is a saved page, note that the content type information sent by the server is not retained. Thus, if you try to open such a file from disk, Firefox may be baffled. If you are saving the files, it would be best to rename them with a more standard ending such as .html or .pdf while saving (if you have Firefox set to ask you where to save) or after saving (click the green arrow, then click the folder icon next to the download, and you then can rename it in Finder).

Hello jscher2000,

I am trying to open the cfm file from a website and view it in firefox. I am using an add-on to view pdf and it should view cfm as well since it's working fine in safari and in my windows os firefox !

when I try to open the file it opens, however, I can't read any of the things that's written in it. It's just like a blank page with frames but with no words.

Does Firefox appear to be recognizing that it's actually a PDF file and handing it over to the add-on for display? If the add-on works with other PDFs but can't figure out this one, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Yes. If I disabled the add-on I can't even open the file. and yes, it does work with other pdf

Any idea how to solve this problem ?

If it were me, I'd download the PDF and view it in a stand-alone reader, but that might not be convenient for your workflow.

If the PDF doesn't require a subscription, you also could ask the add-on provider to take a look at it. Maybe there's a simple fix?

I mean it's working fine with my firefox on Windows, so I don't think its a problem with the add-on, nor is it a problem with my mac since I could view the file on Safari

What add-on is it? Some add-ons do differ between platforms, for example, the Adobe Acrobat plugin is known to have more and different problems on Mac than on Windows.

I'm using PDF Viewer 0.8.298

Hi r3no, the PDF Viewer extension is an updated version of the built-in PDF Viewer. In principle, it should work the same on all platforms Firefox supports, but in practice, there are lots of bugs in the viewer, and you may have run into one of them.
